As of January 2025, the HSE provides a standardized annual, nationwide allowance for post-mastectomy products for cancer patients, regardless of medical card status. The allowance offers up to €400 yearly for a prosthesis and 2 bras, or €150 for a prosthesis and swimsuit. Double mastectomy allowances are higher at €650 for prostheses/bras and €215 for swimsuits. 

Key Details of the HSE Post-Mastectomy Allowance:

Eligibility: Any woman who has undergone a mastectomy or lumpectomy for cancer treatment can apply.  A medical card is not required.

How to Apply/Claim:

Obtain a prescription or letter from your GP or hospital consultant for the products.

1.   Drop in or make an appointment with us for your fitting.

2.   Bring your prescription to the fitting and we will facilitate the allowance (you only pay for any costs exceeding the allowance amount).
